Frequently Asked Questions
Every question answered — from lead times and wood species to bespoke shapes and delivery.
Ordering & Lead Times
How long does it take to make and deliver my order?
Most items take 1–2 working days to manufacture, followed by 3–4 working days for delivery via FedEx or Royal Mail — so you can typically expect your order within 5–6 working days of placing it.
Bespoke or large orders may require additional time. If you have a deadline, message us before ordering and we’ll let you know what’s achievable.
Can I get a rush order completed within a week?
Unfortunately we’re not able to guarantee completion within one working week for custom or bespoke pieces — the turning and drying process can’t be safely rushed without affecting quality.
For standard stock sizes we may be able to move faster. Message us with your requirements and deadline.
Can I place a bulk or trade order?
Yes — we regularly supply B2B clients including interior designers, event companies, and furniture makers. For large or repeat orders we’re happy to provide a formal quotation.
Please contact us with the quantity, specification, and delivery timeline and we’ll come back to you promptly.
Products & Materials
What sizes do you make?
Our standard range runs from 6 cm up to 34 cm+ in diameter. We can turn to any diameter in between — just let us know the exact size you need in your order notes or message us before purchasing.
What wood species do you use?
We work with a wide range of timbers:
- Softwoods: Pine, European Redwood
- Hardwoods: Oak, Walnut, African Walnut, Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Poplar, Reclaimed Oak
If you have a specific species in mind that’s not listed, get in touch — we may be able to source it.
Are large balls solid or bonded construction?
Large balls — typically above around 15 cm — are made from bonded (glued-up) construction using Titebond wood glue under high clamping pressure. This is actually more structurally stable than solid at large diameters.
We use a mirrored grain pattern across joints so the seam lines are as subtle as possible.
Can you make hollow wooden spheres?
Yes — hollow spheres are something we produce. They’re ideal for decorative use where weight is a concern. Message us with the diameter and wall thickness you need for a quote.
What other products do you make besides balls?
We can turn virtually any shape and any diameter — balls are our most popular product, but we regularly produce many other pieces.
- Hemispheres & domes
- Bun feet & furniture legs (stacking legs, bun-stack combinations)
- Newel post balls (flat-bottomed for staircase posts)
- Hollow spheres
- Fully custom turned shapes — send us a drawing or description
Customisation & Bespoke Orders
Can you add flat ends, a dowel hole, or other modifications?
Yes. Common modifications:
- Flat ends: Removes around 7–10% of height — a 20 cm ball finishes at ~18–18.5 cm. Tell us your target finished height and we’ll start from the right diameter.
- Dowel holes: Centred, to your specified diameter and depth.
- Custom dimensions: Any diameter to the nearest millimetre.
What custom finishes can you apply?
Options beyond natural bare wood:
- Staining — enhances the grain in a range of colours
- Lacquering — clear or tinted, gloss or satin
- Painted plain colours — RAL or Farrow & Ball shade
- Metallic finishes — gold, silver, bronze
- Chrome effect
- Decorative effects — flicking and more
Custom finishes are priced on request.
I need a specific size or shape that isn’t in your shop — can you make it?
Yes — we can turn any diameter (from 6 cm upward) and any shape. Message us with dimensions, shape, wood species, finish, and quantity — no obligation.
Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship worldwide via FedEx International. Delivery to most countries takes 3–4 working days from dispatch.
International orders ship on DAP (Delivered at Place) incoterms — any import duties or VAT payable in your country are the buyer’s responsibility.
How will my order be packaged?
All items are carefully packed to prevent movement and damage in transit. Larger pieces are individually wrapped and boxed with appropriate void-fill. If you have specific packaging requirements, let us know in your order notes.
My order hasn’t arrived — what should I do?
Please contact us with your order number. We’ll check the tracking with FedEx or Royal Mail and follow up on your behalf.
After Your Order
My item arrived damaged — what’s covered?
If your item arrives damaged:
- Take photos of the packaging and item before unpacking further
- Message us with your order number and the photos
- We’ll arrange a full replacement or refund — whichever you prefer
Etsy orders are also covered by Etsy Purchase Protection. You don’t need to return the damaged item.
How should I care for my wood product?
Wood responds to changes in humidity and temperature:
- Avoid placing it near radiators, open fires, or air conditioning vents
- Allow a few days to acclimatise to the room’s humidity before applying any finish
- Use a light coat of Danish oil, wax, or wood conditioner periodically
- For bonded pieces, avoid prolonged exposure to standing water or extreme damp

Can I request a sample before placing a large order?
Yes — for large or high-value orders we can provide a sample piece in your chosen wood species and finish so you can approve it before committing. Please contact us to discuss.
We’re happy to help. Send us a message and we’ll get back to you within one working day.
