Custom Wooden Finials & Turned Components — Matched To Your Original
Send us a photo, a drawing, or the broken original. We turn the replacement to match it exactly, in the hardwood you choose, and ship it to you in the US. A priced quote comes back within one UK business day.
Why send to England for a finial
Catalogue suppliers stock standard profiles. If your bed, rod or staircase is old, unusual, or simply not a shape anyone sells any more, a catalogue cannot help — you need someone to turn a new one to match the old one.
That is all we do. Send us the broken piece or a photograph with a ruler beside it, and we copy the profile. Any hardwood, any size within our limits, one piece or a matched set.
What we make
- Finials — bed posts, drapery rods, newel caps, gate posts, furniture
- Bed posts and furniture parts — matched to a surviving original
- Spheres, half-spheres and domes — up to 11.5 in one-piece, 18 in hemisphere
- Architectural turnings — columns, balusters, decorative components
How it works
- Send us what you have — a photo with something for scale, a sketch, dimensions, or post us the original.
- We quote within one UK business day — a fixed price, with shipping and US import duty set out as separate lines, priced both duty-paid and duty-on-arrival so you can see which suits you.
- We make it — typically 2–3 weeks from your approval.
- It ships to your door from Birmingham, England, on whichever basis you chose.
Shipping and duty — your choice, and we will advise
Two ways to buy, and we will work out which is cheaper for your order before you commit.
Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) — one price with everything in it. We pay the US import duty and the customs brokerage, and it sits in your quote as a line you can see. Nothing to settle on arrival and no broker to deal with.
Delivered At Place (DAP) — duty is collected by the carrier on delivery and settled by you, as our shipping policy sets out. Often the cheaper route if you already hold an importer number or use a broker.
Tell us which you would prefer, or simply ask — we ship internationally every week and our logistics team will price both and tell you plainly which one wins on your order. Either way the duty figure appears on your quote before you pay anything, never as a surprise afterwards.
Minimum order £250 (about $315) on standard items. Bespoke commissions are priced individually — tell us what you need.
We are blunt about the minimum because carriage and duty are a fixed cost per shipment, not a percentage. On a £120 order they come to roughly £75 — 62% of the goods value. A set of four finials almost always makes sense; one small knob does not.
Common questions
- Can you match a finial I already have?
- Yes — that is the main thing we do.
- What if I only have a photograph?
- Usually enough, if something is beside it for scale. A ruler or a coin is ideal.
- Which timbers?
- Oak, beech, ash, walnut, tulipwood and others.
- How long does it take?
- Typically 2–3 weeks from approval, plus shipping.
- Will I pay customs?
- Your choice. On a duty-paid (DDP) quote we pay it and it is included, so there is nothing to settle on arrival. On a duty-on-arrival (DAP) quote the carrier collects it from you, which is often cheaper if you already import. We price both and tell you which wins.
- Who works out the duty?
- We do. We ship internationally every week and our logistics team handles the classification, the paperwork and the carrier. You will see the figure on your quote before you commit to anything.
- Do you take small orders?
- Minimum £250 for US delivery, because carriage and duty are fixed per shipment.
