Description

A turned oak ball with an integral dowel — so it is a furniture foot, not a ball with a flat on it.

The spigot is turned from the same single piece of timber as the ball, so the grain runs unbroken from foot to peg and there is no joint to fail. Bore a 20mm hole, glue it in, done. That is the whole fixing.

  • Ball: 76mm diameter with a small flat pad underneath
  • Spigot: 20mm diameter × 30mm long, integral — bore a standard 20mm hole
  • Overall height: approx. 106mm
  • Timber: solid oak, African walnut, or paint-grade pine
  • Packs: set of four, or a trade box of twenty

Turned between centres, on purpose

These are turned between centres with the grain running along the axis of the spigot, which makes the peg long-grain and strong. Turned the other way — face-on in a chuck — the spigot would be short grain and would snap under a sideways knock. It is the sort of thing you only notice when it fails, so we don't do it that way.

What they suit

Cabinets, sideboards, chests, blanket boxes, ottomans and sofa frames. Cabinetmakers, upholsterers and restorers: the trade box of twenty is priced for you and ships alongside a leg order.

Need a threaded fixing instead?

We also bore these for an M8 hanger bolt if you are replacing feet on a frame with existing threaded plates. Message us and we'll sort it.

Turned by hand in Birmingham, England. Lead time 2–3 weeks.
