Pattern 4 Vase-and-Ring Leg — Victorian Turned Furniture Leg, Restoration & Replacement

Broken a leg off something old? Send us a photograph and we'll turn you a new one that matches.

This is a copy-turning service as much as a product. You send a photo of the surviving leg — or post us the broken one — and we turn a new leg to the same profile, on the same lathe, by hand. A one-off matched to three survivors can't be duplicated or cheaply CNC'd, which is exactly why most workshops won't take the job.

How matching works

1. Message us a photo of the original with a tape measure or ruler beside it.
2. We confirm the price and lead time before you pay anything.
3. A £45 pattern fee sets it up — credited in full against your order.
4. We send you a photo of the new leg beside your pattern before it ships.

The stock pattern

If you just want the look rather than a match, Pattern 4 is our own drawing of a classic Victorian leg: square pommel, astragal ring, a swelling urn belly a third of the way down, a slender ogee taper, ring collar and turned toe. 30cm × 6.2cm. African walnut stains and polishes to a convincing Victorian mahogany.

• Sizes we take: 150–450mm — chair, settee, stool, washstand, chest and side-table legs
• Supplied: sanded to 150 grit as standard so your polisher can finish to the piece; staining and polishing available
• Colour matching: to a physical sample you send us, returned with your order. We can't match from a photograph — screens lie.

What we don't do

Full dining table legs (711–737mm) and bed posts. They are longer than our lathe takes between centres, and we would rather decline the job than joint a leg and call it solid.
